Maggie Daley Park Will Be Dog Free

RedEye Chicago reports that dogs will not be allowed in the new Maggie Daley Park.

After the park board meeting, park district CEO Mike Kelly explained the decision he made to prohibit dogs there.

"It's dog waste. Despite what people want – and all these people are good people, they all have the best interest at heart – but people do let their dogs off leash in Chicago. That is a fact. They do it in parks we have now where there's dog-friendly areas," he said on Wednesday after a park board meeting.

"It was a prudent decision and it was a tough decision. Unfortunately, we have to make tough decisions here and we know it's not going to make everybody happy but it is going to be a wonderful park."
