The Chicago Sun-Times reports that due to lack of financing the Chicago Spire "appears to be dead." The loss of the would-be internationally visible Chicago Spire is compounded by the removal of funds to develop DuSable Park, a long under-utilized park at the mouth of the Chicago River. “Now, you have a big ugly hole in the ground where the Spire site is,” said Grant Park Conservancy president Bob O’Neill. “And DuSable Park … is going to sit there as a pile of weeds.”
