The inaugural Chicago Ale Fest scheduled to take place this weekend in Grant Park is postponed until next summer. Festival organizers made the decision Monday morning, Sept. 15 and cite impending bad weather and financial concerns as reasons for calling off the event. Anyone who has purchased will receive a full refund.
“We knew it was a risk but the outdoor setting was also going to be the big draw of this event. Unfortunately, the cards didn’t fall in our favor this year,” said event organizer Josh Seago of Lou Dog Events. “The potential is there and we want to thank all of our sponsors and partners who enthusiastically came on board. We look forward to seeing everyone at the fest next year.”
The event was scheduled for 6-10 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19 and 1-5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20 around Buckingham Fountain in Grant Park. As of Monday, weather forecasts showed heavy rains and thunderstorms during festival hours.
