Work to begin on Grant Park Skate Park

The Chicago Tribune reports that construction on the 2.65 million dollar 3-acre skate park in Grant Park begins this week. "In recent history, Chicago's front yard has come back. It's greener, hipper, more innovative than ever before. This skate park really shows that," said Bob O'Neill, President of the Grant Park Conservnacy and Advisory Council. Over 50 trees will be planted throughout the skate park, greening an otherwise concrete plaza. Construction should wrap up around November or December.
