The Conservancy has worked with the Chicago Park District, the Mayor’s Office, the Grant Park Advisory Council, and numerous cultural and community organizations on a host of issues, including:
·The Grant Park Framework Plan (completed 2002); ·Establishment of a volunteer maintenance, tree reforestation program; ·Development of a park-wide reforestation program; ·Development of increased park maintenance standards (with the Chicago Park District); ·Sir Georg Solti Garden; ·Queen’s Landing pedestrian crossing and Lake Shore Drive Concept sketches; ·Daley Bicentennial Plaza/North Park Gateway, Peanut Park and Lakefront Access; ·South Grant Park Gateway to Museum Campus ·Grant Park Garden overlay (with Kathryn Gustafson Partners); ·The DuSable Park Project;
The Lagos:Grant Park’s Golden Rabbit Award each year, we host the Lago Awards.“Lago” is short for “lagomorpha,” the biological classification for rabbits.The golden statue of a rabbit, awarded at a reception at The Green at Grant Park, recognizes dedicated individuals in the categories of landscape design, community outreach, architecture, the arts, education, cultural programming, urban planning, and volunteerism.
